Currently, not much is known about how variables such as parents’ age, overall health, and socioeconomic status affect their children’s health. Socioeconomic factors also play a role. Most studies of parental age focus on the age of the mother only, but Cohen and Dinwiddie will include the ages of both parents in their analysis. Cohen and Dinwiddie hope that the results of their research will help to answer questions about the social and biological causes of cognitive disabilities in children.
